Thankfully when I woke up this morning I didn't find myself in a strange new and colourful land with short people singing gleefully at me and myself exclaiming to a bewildered dog that we are no longer in the home counties.
It was a little blustery, though.
Today voting starts over on the 2000AD Forum for Octobers 2000AD Forum Art Competition. If you wish to vote for your favourite interpretation of steampunk 2000AD, then head on over. There are loads of cool entries to choose from. You can pick your top three and up to five honourable mentions. You don't have to vote for my entry. Not if you don't want to. Of course I think it'd be cool if you did (and if I thought enough people read my blog I'd be rubbing my hands and exclaiming maniacally about how the top prize is a shoe in to be mine all mine). Voting ends midnight, 31st October 2013.
About a year ago I decided to go back to the prog of 2000AD I got (prog 897) and work my way through my collection hoping to find inspiration for artwork. It worked out well but I got more into reading the issues than trying to draw inspiration from them as time went on. I even bought back issues to fill a five year gap from when I stopped collecting. I have now reached the point in my collection where I started collecting 2000AD again at the end of 2006. So I figure I may as well try and get some of the original intent back. Although this time instead of doing wallpapers I thought of doing pieces that should take no more than 6 hours - with proper line art. I need to work on my black and white work and I want to develop my characterization further. I figure having reached the start of Kingdom and remembering how much I enjoyed that strip I should probably start there.
There is also my Project S that I hope to be doing more work towards as well. Preferably I hope to do work on this project alongside other things I am doing to provide me with a better working practise and stop me getting tired of working on one piece - which often leads to procrastination. I may have inadvertently set myself the task of working on a Family Romanov line up and anime inspired Mecha ABC Warriors. Plus there is the city scape I have wanted to get on with since completing my Aimee Nixon picture. On top of all that, a new 2000AD Forum Art Competition will likely be posted this Friday. *Phew* loads to be getting on with.

Project MBoM
Project MBoM has been an exercise in improving and discovering skills in drafting, inking and colouring. I used some exercises from the first volume of the Monster Book of Manga as a base for my exploration.
I decided not to do every picture from the book as some didn't seem relevant and I also did not like the poses for others. I didn't want to just copy each step of the book so I tried to do something different with varying degrees of success. The project started a little rough with not many aspects coming into focus until around the eighth picture. I started by doing the inking for the first 16 and then moved on to the colouring stage
Round and About
Dear Diary,
It's 2018. I have more Face Studies to post this year and I also hope to get started on with some new stuff as well. I have a diary to help organise myself better. It's not a New Years resolution because I actually want to stick to it.
I have been thinking whether I should do some pixel art stuff as well as everything else I have planned. I might stretch myself thin, so I guess I'll have to wait and see how this new year goes first. It would be nice to do some random pixel animations and the like as it was pretty fun.
Hopefully there will be a variety of art projects on the go this year and I may have to consider what else
Missing Person
Hey! I'm back!
Sort of.
For the last year I have been working through some things as plans for the future fell through, relationships ended and sickness. Aside from that I have been working on improving my art and being more confident in its creation. I have been collating various references for improvements on basics, like anatomy and techniques. I am now working on implementing what I've learned and finding further resources to go beyond that. I have recently started experimenting with Gradient Maps for colouring a digital piece. I was never one to use the greyscale tones and colour afterwards as the method alluded me, but Gradient
Backwards and Around
Things have changed.
Starting from scratch.
New stuff in the New Year, perhaps.
